In 1955, Mike Hawthorn won the Le Mans 24 Hours race for Jaguar driving a D-type, Chassis No XKD 505 and carrying the registration 774 RW. The ex Mike Hawthorn D-type, XKD505, rebuilt and actively campaigned around the world, was raced in the Sussex Trophy at the fabulous Goodwood Festival of Speed on September 8th 2002, driven by Win Percy. 774 RW had a miniature video camera fitted to the left side of the wraparound windscreen by Win's shoulder and the whole of warmup and the race itself was recorded with full sound! It is remarkable and absolutely riveting coverage with very litle vibration induced by the D-Type and its 3.8 Litre engine running flat out at racing speeds. Win subsequently recorded full commentary for each lap that makes this even more interesting to watch as he carefully analyses every bend and overtaking maneuver plus the hairy moments!
